![]() The ending of this film cheapens the entirety of the third film and betrays Woody's character. But it was just a throwaway line in Toy Story 3 he made. If Woody had spent the last film brooding over losing Bo, maybe. I was very put off by the "ditch all your friends you've known for 20+ years and the kid you belong to for an impulse decision to be with a girl you like" ending. Saw the film last night, couldn't agree more. ![]() I will definitely be watching this again and hopefully I see things differently now that my first critical viewing is out the way. It was definitely a good film, but the 3 films that came before it were absolutely incredible that any minor faults with 4 stood out to me a lot. I’ve read in multiple reviews that people cried so maybe it’s just me?ĭoes anyone have similar thoughts? Or am I alone in having these issues with the film?Įxpectations were so high with this film so I think that’s where my trouble lies. It just didn’t have that emotional impact on me like it should have. Here we had a farewell that felt more like saying goodbye to someone who’s going on a long holiday, rather than saying goodbye forever. When the toys said goodbye to Andy in Toy Story 3, we were given a nice moment which tugged at the heart strings and that final look back at the toys made grown men and women cry. These toys have been pals for 20 years, and it was almost too easy for them to say goodbye and part ways. We didn’t get time to process or feel the gravity of what was actually happening. when we got to the moment of Woody saying goodbye to the gang, it felt rushed. Bo Peep was good, but felt like a completely different character from who she was in the first film which I found a little distracting, but a lot can happen to a toy over the course of 20ish years so you can make allowances for that.Īnd then there was the ending. She had great moments but didn’t quite get there. But I felt the villain of the film, Gabby Gabby, was a shadow of what Lotso was in the 3rd film. The new characters for the most part were great, in particularly Ducky and Bunny, and Duke Caboom got a few laughs. It wasn’t so much a Toy Story movie, as it was a Woody Story movie. Buzz has a decent sized role but still felt he was lacking. I was left wanting more of Jessie, Rex, Slinky, the potato heads, and Ham, which for the most part felt like cameos. The film pushes all our favourite characters besides Woody aside. With a rotten tomatoes score of 98% (as of the 19th of June) I feel like I may be in the minority when I say I was left a little disappointed in the film. Many people, including me questioned ‘why make a 4th film when the ending of 3 was perfect?’ The three films are among my most cherished movies. I’m now 30 and still in love with the films. Suddenly, Andy and Molly’s mom walks in and takes Bo Peep, her sheep, and a lamp.I saw the first film when it came out when I was 6. As they try to save RC during a storm, Woody, Buzz, and a few others go to Molly’s room. Andy is still actively playing with his toys, but Bo is in Andy’s sisters, Molly, room as Bo is her toy. ![]() The first moments of Toy Story 4, take us back in time to when Andy was younger. Woody is visibly sadden, but we never see what happened, until now. ![]() During a speech about the importance of staying together, it’s quickly mentioned that they’ve lost many friends, including Bo. In the third movie, we don’t see Bo Peep. While we won’t spoil the ending of the film or other major plot, we will go into details about what happened to Bo before Toy Story 3. Spoiler alert! If you have not seen Toy Story 4 in theaters, please note there are spoilers about Bo Peep. 4 years ago Bo Peep doesn’t appear in Toy Story 3, but makes a come back in the fourth movie, now in theaters, do audiences get to see what happened to her? ![]()
